Ahead of his show this weekend we’ve selected five of the best from one of the UK’s most innovative artists.

This Saturday Junior Spesh will welcome GAIKA to the intimate confines of Bello Bar for their first show of 2020.

A true visionary, GAIKA has released music on Warp Records and was hailed by The Guardian as ‘Britain’s most vital rapper’. He has since set up his own label and collective ‘The Spectacular Empire’.

His scope as an artist is not restricted to music only. He’s curated an exhibition and concert series on Caribbean club culture for Boiler Room called SYSTEM, creating audio- visual installations at the Royal Academy, Somerset House, ICA, and Corsica Studios, and is the political editor-at-large of Dazed.

He is an outspoken activist on immigrants’ rights, and when refugee rights awareness group Asylum Archive reached out to him on twitter asking he come to Dublin he made it a priority.

KNEE DEEP IN THE CONCRETE

Ahead of the show we’ve lined-up five of our favourite tracks from the genre-bending artist.

1. GAIKA – Crown & Key

2. GAIKA – Seven Churches for St Jude

3. GAIKA – Immigrant Sons (Pesos & Gas)

4. GAIKA – Born Thieves

5. GAIKA – Glad We Found It

GAIKA plays BelloBar Saturday 7 March 20.00 – 23.00.
