“There’s still a bit of stigma attached to men owning sex toys. Whereas women, if you have a vibrator you’re Carrie Bradshaw…”

Ireland has come leaps and bounds in the past couple of decades in all aspects of society, sex included. A desire to break through boundaries and experiment has developed as part of this social evolution, and this is where Sex Siopa comes in.

Set up by Shawna Scott in 2011, Sex Siopa is an online sex shop that prides itself on inclusivity, discrete shipping, and body-safe sex toys. Here she chats with District’s own Tara Stewart about her history in the sex toy industry, the demographics of her Irish customers, and even gets hands on with some of the merchandise (steady on).
