Ireland Music Week, soul and disco classics and an Irish club debut for Korea’s finest.

Every Thursday at District we’ll be curating a selection of unmissable events in Dublin ahead of the coming weekend. Whether you have an appetite for thumping techno or are craving some hip hop classics we have you covered.

Ireland music week sees many talented Irish artists feature in a number of showcases across the city and we’ve selected the pick of the bunch. There’s also a themed party in The Sound House, an Irish club debut for a Korean DJ and an appearance from one of the Beastie Boys.

Friday 4 October

박혜진 Park Hye Jin at Wigwam – Wigwam – 23.00 – 03.00

Blending minimal house and techno, psychedelic darkwave and hip-hop with dreamy synths and vocals in both English and Korean, Seoul-based DJ/producer/rapper 박혜진 park hye jin’s sound lies at the junction between K-house and underground electronic music. Park will be making her Irish club debut with Bill Mango and Dylan Forbes on support.

Club Comfort : Off With The Faeries – The Sound House – 23.00 – Late

Club Comfort are bringing their party to a new venue and simultaneously getting back to their roots with a residents only all night party. The dress code is “fey fashion, radical faeries, mushroom mollies” and Selky, Roo Honeychild and Baliboc will be providing the music all night long.

Returning to Index after a NYE blowout, Sunil Sharpe revives his FOE (Friends of Earwiggle) party, bringing hardcore Techno pioneer The Mover to Ireland for the first time. Also featuring on the night is Dr Strange and Eavan.

Mafalda at Telephones – Yamamori Tengu – 22.00 – 03.00

Mafalda co-founded the reissue label Melodies International with Floating Points and hosts Tropic of Love on Red Bull Radio every month. She played Telephone’s sister party Woweembeem last year and now she is coming to Yamamori Tengu. Papa Lou will also be on hand to provide tunes.

Boots & Kats – District 8 – 22.00 – 03.00

Beloved disco and house duo Boots & Kats are joined by their long time friends and contemporaries this weekend to form the first line up of all Irish talent at the new District 8.

Adult Store, George Feely and Karl Guests are household names at this stage. With regular appearances up and down the country as well as at festivals across the summer these 3 acts are without a doubt some of the most in demand names in home grown talent right now.

Arguably the pick of the bunch, Saturday sees Mango X Mathman, Demi Gosh, Alex Gough and Super Silly play the Button Factory in one of the stand out showcases in Ireland Music Week.

Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys) is playing his first Irish show in ten years at the Button Factory. Named as “the world’s greatest DJ” by USA Today, Mix Master Mike’s status as a premier, award-winning DJ and producer is unshakeable.

Strawberries – The Sound House – 23.30 – late

Dublin’s newest queer party comes to The Sound House and for the launch party Jordan Hearns and Aoife O’ Neill (Out of Space) will spinning tracks from Italo, disco and house. Also featuring a visual installation from MJ Moan playing on elements of colour, light and structure.
