“‘Nothing’ is a story of self-discovery and forced self-recovery through the pain of a failed relationship.”
This month Loah features in the December issue of our Guide to Dublin City, available in 250 locations in the capital. In that conversation she discusses Irish people’s inherent self-deprecation and female intuition. In this video however, Loah details a story of “self-discovery and forced self-recovery through the pain of a failed relationship”.
“After having the repeated experience of losing myself in other people to quell the fear and longing within me for peace, I had to ask, why? This question led me on a journey.
“Being a woman in the world has often been a fraught and tense experience. Battles with self-worth, feeling like my body is not my own and a sense of worthlessness outside of relationships culminated in the need for me to create this work. This is not just my experience. Our outer political and cultural world often reflect this. Becoming more conscious and confident has enabled me to use my power to make more informed, positive choices for myself and my community.”
Director of the video Mark William Logan says the video consists of four different realities, “the subconscious, the confident self, the insecure self and actual reality”. Check it out below
