Burner Record’s FYNCH speaks about his rider requests, camaraderie and more ahead of his debut EP.
Having formed in 2018, Burner Records drew together a number of talented artists and they have been steadily throwing parties and playing shows since.
This week sees the first official release of a project via the label. Drimnagh’s human sacrifice aka FYNCH is gearing up to share his debut EP ‘Bookie Pens & Loose Ends’ this Friday and in advance of its release we caught up with the man himself.
You are fighting in the octagon, what song do you walk out to?
What’s the best thing about being in Burner Records?
The camaraderie. You genuinely can’t help but enjoy yourself if you’re in the presence of Jake Hurley and that’s facts.
Whose music are you listening to at the moment?
Nealo, Rebel Phoenix & Marcus Woods, actually been flat out listening to The Wombats recently. Got to throw that new Kano album in the mix too. Also, Stormzy’s new tunes are crazy good.
You have your own talk show, who is your first guest?
Brian Kerr, easy.
Tell us something that we wouldn’t know about you?
Have the best serve and volley game south of the River Liffey.
With the EP just about to drop, what are your hopes for it?
I just hope that people give it a chance and get something from it. I’m a simple man, you know.
If you could have had any artist feature on the EP who would it have been?
You are playing the 3arena and they ask your rider requests, what are you having?
Cans of Dutch to beat the band, few spicebags (strictly from both Excellent in Drimnagh and the originators of the spicebag, Sunflower in Templeogue), loads of Fiji water for the flex, and salt and vinegar peanuts.
You can choose one Irish artist to head up the Irish government and subsequently save the country, who is it?
I would die for An Taoiseach, Mango Dassle agus Uachtarán na hÉireann, Yo MathMan.
Where can we catch you during the rest of 2019?
The Long Mile Inn, The Halfway House, The Black Forge, The Eleanora, or The Star Bingo.
‘Bookie Pens & Loose Ends’ is released 11 October.
