In May Skepta’s much anticipated and hyped album ‘Konnichiwa’ was launched in Tokyo with Boiler Room.

Notable collaborators include JME, Wiley, Novelist, A$AP Nast and even Pharrell Williams and for many the album lived up to the hype.

Now it’s been recognised by one of the most esteemed panels in British music as the LP has won the Mercury Prize.

There were emotional scenes as the grime artist beat the likes of Anohni, Radiohead, Kano and even the late, great David Bowie.

Jarvis Cocker announced it by saying, “If David Bowie was looking down on the Hammersmith Apollo tonight – and maybe he is, we’ve seen traces of his influence in many of the acts tonight – he would want the 2016 Mercury Prize to go to Skepta…”
