A new snack and wine shop for Stoneybatter

Words: Emily Mullen

The shop has a printmaker and wine expert at its helm

A couple of weeks ago Lilith, opened its doors on Stoneybatter’s Prussia street. Specialising in wine, the shop stocks beer, spirits, an extensive range of snacks and prints amongst other things.

Opened by Sophie Robson who has been working in wine for years, but her start in the industry was far from traditional. While in New York studying printmaking, she spotted a job vacancy in a shop in Williamsburg for a role with UVA wines, a natural and organic wine shop.

This chance moment “completely changed the path of my life” Robson told us. Accepting the position in UVA, catapulted her into the world of wine. Over the last years, she has spent time in Dublin’s Ely wine bar, harvesting in Galicia, touring wine fairs and producers around France.

Returning to Dublin, Robson came up with the idea to open Lilith while she was working in the Stoneybatter-based Damn Fine Print. “Whilst printing there I thought of how my idea of an off-license would work here,” she said.

An offshoot of her time spent in the industry means that Robson has stocked Lilith with wine mainly organic/biodynamic from low intervention producers.

Lilith currently stocks a range of Irish and Belgian beers, alongside ports and sherry’s, Robson told us that she plans to expand her spirits shelf.

Her return from Ibiza has influenced the stock that Robson carries in-store, from high-quality olives to kikones etc, to more European influences like pasta sauces, cannolis, cheese and meats.

The art on the walls of Lilith is from Robson herself, referring back to the advert in Williamsburg all those years ago Robson added, “I guess art brought me to both shops.”

Lilith is open Tuesday-Wednesday 12.00-20.00, Thursday-Friday 12.00-21.00, Saturday 11.00-21.00 and Sunday 13.00-18.00.

You can find Lilith on Stoneybatter’s 31a Prussia street, for more information visit their Instagram.
