In a bizarre turn of events Akon has revealed that he’s signed off on ‘Akon City’. Working with Senegal’s state-owned tourism company he’s demonstrated his commitment to continued philanthropy in Africa.
He’s already developed his own crypto-currency ‘Akoin‘ and the singer is determined to improve living conditions in his native Senegal and beyond.
In an ambitious project Akon hopes the city will run on 100% renewable energy. He spelt out some of the aims in an interview with Nick Cannon that can be viewed below.
“I think that blockchain and crypto could be the saviour for Africa in many ways because it brings the power back to the people and brings the security back into the currency system and also allows the people to utilize it in ways where they can advance themselves and not allow government to do those things that are keeping them down,” he said.
