Amanda Serrano “doesn’t want” a rematch with Katie Taylor

Words: Eva O’Beirne

Taylor’s boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that the Serrano team have ruled out any rematch with Taylor, including one in Dublin.

Hearn has previously said that his company, Matchroom Boxing, held talks with the GAA venue with hopes of a fight taking place next autumn.

However, comments made today by the boxing promoter seem to suggest that Taylor’s opponent isn’t up for a rematch.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans Hearn said: “They don’t want that fight, unfortunately. I mean we’ve spoken to Jake Paul’s team and they don’t want to go to Ireland. They really don’t want the rematch. It’s kind of like, regardless of the offer, ‘we don’t want to do the rematch.”

“It’s very disappointing, because I love that fight and I think it’s a great fight and such a close fight. Ut doesn’t look like it’s a fight that unfortunately Amanda Serrano wants.”

Katie defeated Serrano in Madison Square Garden in a self-described “career-defining” performance on April 30. It was her fifth win as an undisputed lightweight champion.
