Black and Irish announce new music festival ‘For The Culture’

Words: Dylan Murphy

The festival will take place in May 2022 at Fairyhouse Racecourse.

Black & Irish have been celebrating and highlighting black and mixed race Irish people and exploring what it means to be Irish since their inception. Created after the death of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, their goal has been to generate authentic discussion and spread awareness of the struggles and successes from within the black community in Ireland.

After some teasing on social media, they’ve revealed they are launching a new music festival aimed at celebrating community, culture, heritage and the black and Irish experience. Set to take place May 28 2022 at Fairyhouse Racecourse the festival will be focusing on platforming black and mixed-race artists, entrepreneurs and black-owned businesses around the country. Although the festival is focused on representation in the black and mixed-race community it is open for all to attended and share the black and Irish experience.
