Boy Lucid drops double sided debut release ‘Be My Game / Open’

Another recent recruit to Anomaly’s roster has shared two eclectic singles.

Emerging out of Waterford, Anomaly collective initially built a reputation for throwing riotous underground shows that showcased some of the country’s best young talent. In recent years they’ve evolved into a wider collective that seeks to pool skills and talents to spread the music of associated acts far and wide.

One of their recent recruits Boy Lucid has shared his first tracks. The double-sided release features ‘Be My Game’ and ‘Open’ and borrows influence from the futuristic and bone-rattling synth-pop creeping into the mainstream through the likes of Charlie XCX.

When asked what he was listening to when creating the new tracks Lucid Boy said, “I’ve been a big fan of PC Music, a label based in the UK, and their wider family (Namasenda, Charli XCX, SOPHIE.) They have an exaggerated take on pop music; it’s all about embracing consumerism to kind of accelerate it (and maybe prove how messed up it is.) This has really inspired the Boy Lucid project, to embrace and face deep desires. I’ve also been listening to Arca who a non-binary artist making dark destructive pop. I like the symbolism of futurist pop music, beyond the sound, where it provokes our presumptions on gender, love and how we treat the planet.”

Looking towards the rest of the year the multifaceted artist has said, “I’m trying to turn my music into a performance, which means getting out of my laptop and learning lots of new equipment and software!”

“I’m going to release an ambient set before the end of the year and will be getting an EP ready for probably next year. I still feel like I’m discovering my sound so that will be a constant journey… Otherwise I want to network and start collaborating with other musicians/artists, and work on forming a visual aspect to my project.”
