‘Breakthrough’ winner KiD V shares ‘Point Of View’ with Nealo. & St. Jae

Words: Dylan Murphy

As part of District and Havana Club’s ‘Breakthrough’ competition, Dublin rapper KiD V pipped over 50 artists in a contest to find Ireland’s next breakout MC. As a result, he jumped in the studio with three of Ireland’s most coveted artists to cook up a track and it’s finally here.

At District, over the past 6 years, we’ve watched acts like KojaqueJyellowLJafaris and more go from fledgling acts spitting bars in their bedroom to boundary-pushing artists with swathes of listeners across the globe.

Havana Club share the same appreciation for the burgeoning Irish hip hop culture and with this in mind, we teamed up with them in 2019 to bring four acts from Ireland on the verge of breaking out to Cuba. Here Nealo, Fehdah, Denise Chaila and God Knows soaked in the exotic surroundings and tapped into the once in a lifetime experience before releasing some of their most seminal work. In 2021, we decided to team up again to support the next generation of acts with our ‘Breakthrough’ campaign.

Over 100 acts submitted music that was examined by a panel consisting of the District team, MuRli, God Knows and Nealo. KiD V came out on top and subsequently, he hopped in the studio with MuRli and Nealo to create a new track whilst District provided photography, distribution for the single, cover art, press release and advice around the release.

The time has finally come and ‘Point Of View’ has landed on streaming services. Keep an eye out for additional video content next week.
