God Knows of Rusangano Family releases his debut solo track

“I see kings and queens of all walks of life making moves, regardless of the cards they’ve been dealt…”

Along with MuRli and mynameisjOhn, God Knows is a member of Choice Music Prize-winning hip hop group Rusangano Family. In 2014 they released the project ‘Rusangano/Family’, followed by a selection of singles and eventually the award-winning ‘Let the Dead Bury the Dead‘ in 2016. Apart from the odd release, Rusangano have been quiet as a group, locked away in the studio and pursuing other creative endeavours.

While he did appear on Sim Simma’s ‘Pass The Aux Cord‘ project, ‘Crown’ is the first official outing from God Knows as a solo artist.

Recorded in the iconic Funkhaus Studios in Berlin, the track an ode to Ireland’s healthy music scene, with God Knows shining a spotlight on hip hop in particular.

“Whether that’s me shedding light by pointing out what’s happening in the country of my birth or paying homage to the current flourishing music scene here in Ireland. I see kings and queens of all walks of life making moves, regardless of the cards they’ve been dealt, and that’s inspiring. Power on!”

The track features French producer/singer Awir Leon who provides additional, James Blake-esque, vocals. Check it out below.

God Knows plays alongside Pillow Queens, Squarehead and Tebi Rex in The Grand Social this Saturday April 13.
