Irish rapper and Afrobeat artist Sequence shares new EP Take Time
Sequence’s debut EP features Afro-Caribbean beats and catchy hooks that solidify him as one of Ireland’s brightest up-and-coming rappers.
Following the release of singles ‘Stunna’ and ‘Cry’ along with a high-drama visual for the latter, Sequence has just dropped his first EP Take Time.
The EP is a culmination of the sound the Irish artist has been perfecting over the past couple of years. Sequence’s low, rumbling voice raps over melodies inspired by his Nigerian heritage as well as the UK Afrobeat scene.
The first track is ‘East Side’, a laid-back opener for the project that features New York rapper Twenty8. Next is ‘Man with the Plan’, an upbeat track that oozes confidence as he proclaims he is the titular figure who has it all figured out.
‘Cry’ and ‘Stunna’ are the two lead singles from the project. ‘Cry’ is the emotional peak of the EP on which Sequence details the turmoil he feels after being betrayed by an ex. The accompanying video that came out just days ago reflects the intensity of lyrics. Meanwhile, the cockiness of ‘Stunna’ calls back to ‘Man with the Plan’.
The final track, ‘Take Time’, shares the EP’s title. Fellow Word Up Collective member Jordan Adetunji joins Sequence on this flirty, summer tune.
