New Albums: Timothy Duval, Kormac & more

Words: Dylan Murphy

With the endless onslaught of new music every Friday it’s hard to keep up with all the new releases. We’ve curated the essential new albums and projects out today for you to check out.

Timothy Duval – Meeting with a Judas Tree

Having collaborated heavily with Kendrick Lamar on his latest album Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers, multi-instrumentalist Timothy Duval today shares his album Meeting with a Judas Tree. The six track project features contributions from Vegyn and FAUZIA.

Denzel Himself – Goth Cowboy: Country Songs for Grudge-holders

Denzel Himself has been busy. He’s fresh off a tour with JPEGMAFIA, created his own alternative club night and now he’s sharing new music. Goth Cowboy: Country Songs for Grudge-holders lands complete with three tracks and opens a new era for the London-based artist.

Cariss Auburn – Imaginary Me

Wolverhampton artist Cariss Auburn is making future-facing RnB on her own terms. Across the four tracks of her new Imaginary Me EP, she showcases her promise and subsequently throwing her hat in the ring for ones to watch lists.

“Every now and again I’ll get hit with a wave of fear about my place in life versus the person I want to be,” she explains. “I wanted to confront that with the EP and let go of this ideal person made out of pressure and expectation. It’s a vulnerable feeling, it’s a process still and these songs are my diary entries.”

Run The Jewels – RTJ CU4TRO

Run The Jewels have shared a remix album that consists of features and reimaginings from latin American artists. “We set out to make a remix album, but we consider the end result of RTJ CU4TRO to be more than that”, says El-P in a statement. “It’s a reimagining of RTJ4 through the lens of collaboration and a fusing of numerous musical cultures and influences… A rare chance for us to connect, create and be inspired by people who we may never have had the chance to get down with if we weren’t lucky enough to be in a position to put it all together. We thank them for all their generosity, energy, and creativity. This is a piece of music filled with love, respect and craft and everyone truly gave it their all, genuinely humbling us in the process.”

AKAI SOLO – Spirit Roaming

15 tracks of rap goodness from underground frontrunner AKAI SOLO. Spirit Roaming also sees a feature from Armand Hammer aka Billy Woods and ELUCID.

Kormac – Equivalent Exchange

A throughly collaborative album, Kormac’s Equivalent Exchange rounds a glut of local talent including Jafaris, Loah and more for an expansive and cerebral full length. It also features a collection of Spatial Audio mixes, 3 short form animated videos and tour merchandise created by street artist, Maser. To celebrate its release Kormac is hosting a launch show in The Button Factory on Saturday November 19. Tickets are available from selectivememory.ie.

Sault – The 2022 Albums

Mysterious UK group Sault dropped five whole albums in one day this month and now they are on streaming services. Previously, the anonymous group has shared albums online for short periods of time before removing them. Cleo Sol is the rumoured lead vocalist, but outside of a few other details the bigger picture is blurry. All we know is, the music is great.

4103, Zack Oke – Art of Manifestation

Zack Oke and 4103 share an 11 track project of slow, smoked out abstract rap. Songs to stay inside to.

Elsewhere on District: SELLO is on a mission to make rap in Ireland a global force.
