Quick-fire questions: Changing Currents

“That feeling after creating something from nothing. Knowing that what I’ve just made could have an effect on someones life is really inspiring to me.”

Brighton producer Changing Currents is charged with a collaborative energy that runs through the soul of training ground where he cut his teeth – Soundcloud.

Though informed by the collaborative ethos of Soundcloud, his own sound is hard to pin down, with his appeal lying in his range as a producer. Whether it’s drum sounds that would sit nicely in a project from Essie Gang’s J Rick or slippery synths that sound inspired from Kaytranada, Changing Currents is versatile and it’s a good thing.

Following the success of several Soundcloud releases and production credits on KEYAH/BLU’s EP, Changing Currents is about to release a first official EP of his own on May 25. A thoroughly globetrotting project that features South African rapper Chris Snakes, Australia’s Nelson Dialect and Londoners BINA. and Bawo. Ahead of that release he has dropped a new single ‘Fruit Juice’ and we caught up with the eclectic producer to see what makes him tick.
