SCOOP (Supporting Children Out Of Poverty) are raising funds via their auction featuring work from some of the country’s greatest artists including Maser, Aches and more.

Across the last full weekend in April, SCOOP will be raising money for vulnerable young people through their online art auction.

Featuring works from the likes of Solus, SUMS, Sonofafox and more and running from 23-26 April, the auction is on its way to being one of the biggest of its kind in the history of the state.

Founded in 2009 by brothers Andy & Calvin Sweeney, SCOOP (Supporting Children Out Of Poverty) focuses on providing education, welfare and training opportunities for displaced persons abroad and those living in Direct Provision Centres at home.

Their latest fundraising event comes after their annual contemporary art fundraiser garnered a huge €88,600 in May of last year. This year they are going a step further and hope to smash that figure with their three-day online auction consisting of works from over 300 artists.

Speaking on the event, SCOOP founder Andrew Sweeney says, “We are planning on running the largest charity art auction this country has ever seen.”

As a way of thanking the artists that provide the foundations for their annual fundraising and with the difficulties of the last year in mind, they are splitting the funds raised with the artists themselves.

Co-founder Calvin continued saying, “SCOOP wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the kindness and the generosity of Irish artists, and during these difficult times we want to support them just as they have supported us and helped us grow down the years”.

Held in The Copper House Gallery in Dublin City, the auction will be hosted live online through the Invaluable website and mobile app. Interested bidders can register at and even leave pre-bids if they cannot make the auction.

This year the art auction will be curated by David Archbold and also features work from 17 Harmanpreet Kaur who is an aspiring artist that currently lives in the Direct Provision Centre in Newbridge.
