The HSE will not be in touch with the close contacts of last weekend’s positive tests

Words: Katie Gartland

The HSE has announced that it will not be ringing the close contacts of confirmed cases from last weekend due to a backlog.

Over 2,000 people who tested positive over the 3-day period from Friday to Sunday are expected to get in touch with their close contacts themselves.

They HSE has revealed that this was due to a backlog in cases and contact tracing. It will send a text today to everyone who tested positive over the weekend to inform them of this.

The HSE will continue to trace the close contacts of everyone who tested positive from Monday on.
