The Mary Wallopers announce Christmas special livestream

Words: Eva O’Beirne

From 9pm tonight, the Dundalk-based band will be hosting a free festive livestream on their YouTube channel.

Known for their iconic 2020 St Patrick’s Day and Christmas livestreams, The Mary Wallopers will be celebrating another Christmas online. This year they’re promising even more surprises and even less professionalism.

Two years ago, Covid-19 decimated the music industry but it didn’t stop the Wallopers. Unfazed by the immeasurable obstacle dropped in their path, the three brothers built a pub/studio in their house, becoming one of the first bands in the world to host a livestream on St. Patrick’s Day 2020.

Creating a space where Wayne’s World meets Irish ballads, the show was watched by over 40 thousand people in the first 24 hours alone. With previous guests like CMAT, Daragh Lynch (Lankum), Junior Brother and Shane McGowan, we can only imagine who will pop up in tonight’s livestream.

You can checkout tonight’s livestream here.

The Mary Wallopers had a sold out tour booked for Ireland including three dates in Vicar Street. Unfortunately, all shows were cancelled following increased restrictions in November.
