A shop in Japan are trialing mask-checking robots

We’re not too sure how a mask patrolling robot would get on in Dublin…

A shop in Japan have implemented robots to patrol the shop floor and ensure the customers are wearing masks to prevent the spread of Covid 19. Robovie was created by the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International in Kyoto.

Robovie was trialed in the Kyoto official football team’s shop, Cerezo Osaka. The robot ensures all customers are wearing masks and are socially distant in the onset of Japan’s potential third wave of Covid 19.

Clad in the team’s jersey, Robovie makes his way around the shop and politely asks customers to pop on a mask.
