Smash burger joint Dash Burger will host iconic American burger maestro George Motz for a once-off event in Dublin city centre.
Dash Burger will be George’s last stop on his Burger Pop Up World Tour after London, Paris and Copenhagen. George will be smashing burgers at an outdoor cookout at Urban Brewing at CHQ Building, Custom House Quay on Thursday 19 May.
George Motz is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, author and television host is sometimes referred to as “America’s hamburger expert”. He is also the director of the Food Film Festival, a four-day event where participants eat the same food they’re watching on the big screen.
Dash Burger, founded by Barry Wallace, is Ireland’s first smash burger joint. Serendipitously it was George Motz who inspired the concept, and Kenji Lopez [an American chef and food writer] who got Barry into Smash Burgers a few years ago.
In celebration of its hero, Dash Burger will have a special burger on the menu at its Kevin Street and Capel Street locations the week of 19 May. The Double-Double Animal Style burger pays homage to In & Out Burger from LA, with Double Smash Patties, American Cheese, Pickles, Lettuce, Tomato, Grilled Onion and Animal Sauce.
Barry Wallace, founder of Dash Burger said: “Hosting George Motz is a huge deal for Dash Burger and the result of more than a year of hoping and planning! It’s a tribute to the vibrancy of the Irish food scene that he would make Dublin the last stop on his tour after Paris, London and Copenhagen. His vision, burger knowledge and unique style is an inspiration to us at Dash every day and we can’t wait to cook with him.”
There will be live DJs, craft beers from O’Hara’s Brewery and Irish cocktails from Dash Burger’s Northside neighbours Craft Cocktails in anticipation of BBQ season. You can grab tickets here.
