Denzel Curry shares ‘Walkin’, announces Dublin show

Words: Dylan Murphy

The Florida rapper has returned with the first single from his forthcoming album Melt My Eyez, See Your Future.

Having shared a Sci-Fi Western trailer for his latest body of work, Melt My Eyez, See Your Future, former RVIDXR KLVN member and hip hop trailblazer Denzel Curry has dropped the first single from the record, ‘Walkin’. Flowing over a expansive vocal sample, it’s the start of a new chapter for Curry, who also revealed details of a world tour with the news.

Denzel Curry heads to The 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 1 May 2022.

In a press release, Melt My Eyez… is described as “a personal pursuit of of self-reflection & self-discovery and marks his most vulnerable project yet. Vocally its way more subdued and dives headfirst into difficult subjects such as suicidal thoughts, depression, addiction, gun violence in America, emotional persistence, generational trauma, police brutality”.

Features on the record include Robert Glasper, Thundercat, Rico Nasty, slowthai, Boi-1da (Kendrick, Drake), Dot Da Genius (Kid Cudi), Kenny Beats, Noah Goldstein (Frank Ocean, Kanye), JID, JPEGMAFIA and more.

Speaking on the forthcoming album, Denzel said, “I like traditional hip hop, I like drum and bass, I like trap, I like poetry, so a lot of that is going to be interwoven in this album including jazz and a lot of genres that I came up on as a kid and just being in my parents’ house. This album is made up of everything that I couldn’t give you on TA13OO or Imperial because I was going through depression anger issues.”

It comes after Curry shared his first new standalone single in a year with last summer’s ‘The Game‘ which appeared on the Madden NFL 2022 soundtrack.
