To celebrate the launch of District’s newest platform, District Music, we are taking over two venues for one night on Culture Night (22 September), powered by Hennessy with a complimentary drink for each attendee. Through Spoken Word, Techno, House, Disco and Hip Hop we’re giving Culture Night the evening it deserves and you can grab tickets here.

The Grand Social on Liffey Street and Farrier & Draper on South William Street are being taken over by District on Culture Night. We’re bringing together the best Irish artists/DJs and performers to help mark the birth of our newest platform dedicated to Irish music culture.

Starting at 19:00, District Music’s early launch will contain a fusion of hip-hop and spoken word from five different performers in The Grand Social. Encapsulating the essence of Dublin, the event will give a platform to Rappers Nealo and FYNCH‘s cerebral sound to open up the night.

Following on, revered spoken word performers Emmet Kirwan, Natalya O’Flaherty and Max Zanga will take the stage for poignant spoken word performances. Exploring what modern-day Ireland really is and how that pairs with the human condition. Prolific artist, actor and playwright, Emmet Kirwan, is best known for his brutalist depiction of Irish life in his performance Just Saying, delving into the internal struggle of Irish pride. On the ten-year anniversary of the renowned piece, the performance is more relevant than ever.

Natalya O’Flaherty has appeared on The Late Late Show multiple times, performing her spoken pieces for the nation which reflect the angst of a younger generation. As well as his musical ventures, Max Zanga has spoken throughout Ireland, giving a unique perspective on Irish culture.

Come 23:00, District Music’s Late Launch at Farrier & Draper opens with two rooms, spanning multiple genres including hip hop, house and disco.

The Georgian room sees some of the country’s most exciting DJs take to the decks. Opening up the late show, Ricky Chong is set to kick off the night with his selection of disco, hip hop and Italo-pop. Coming off her boiler room at AVA fest, Marion Hawkes will also be joining the lineup with her eclectic taste, expect house, techno, disco and more from the selector who has been everpresent at the forefront of Belfast’s electronic scene. Headlining and taking us into the final hours, after performances at Electric Picnic, All Together Now and Forbidden Fruit, Pagan’s blend of electronic subgenres closes off the night.

Down below, the basement sees a takeover from female, trans and non-binary platform Skin&Blister with a collection honed into house and techno.
