Gash Collective share debut compilation ‘Gash Trax Vol. 1’

Words: Dylan Murphy

It’s Bandcamp Friday, that means all the proceeds from purchases on the site go towards the artists.

With that in mind, Irish fem focused Gash Collective have shared their first compilation Gash Trax Vol. 1. The shapeshifting record consists of cuts from a varied range of the crew’s producers.

Focused on supporting female identifying and LGBTQ+ DJs, Gash Collective took over Dublin Digital Radio last night, before dropping the new compilation.

Gash Trax Vol.1 features ELLLL, SYN, Irene Buckley, Caskré, Berlin-based Sculptress, Kelly Doherty aka Gadget and the Cloud and Tokyo based artist Anna Murray. Meandering through the howling rhythms from SYN through to Gadget and the Cloud’s trademark lofi and ethereal sounds, there’s no shortage of variety on the project.

Speaking on the project ELLLL said, “It’s been a long time in the works with a lot of moving parts, so I’m delighted to see everyone’s hard work come to fruition. It’s certainly helped keep my spirits up this year!”

“Art for Blind Records had reached out to me about doing a 12″ Gash record. A compilation had been on my mind for a while, so it was very serendipitous! It’s a special collaboration between label Art for Blind Records, artist Emma Conway and Dublin Vinyl. I’m thrilled we will have a physical release out there to showcase the talent and artistry that exists across the island of Ireland at the moment in a more permanent way.”
