Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth announces performance in IMMA & exhibition

‘She bites her tender mind’ features previously unseen paintings, drawings, and ceramic sculptures, alongside a glitter installation and an immersive video projection.

 

‘She bites her tender mind’ is a solo exhibition by revered multi-disciplinary artist Kim Gordon. Perhaps best know for her involvement in influential group Sonic Youth, her work since 1981 has explored visual art, music, fashion, film, writing and performance, insisting on “radical experimentation within every field”.

As part of the programme of events surrounding the exhibition, The Irish Museum of Modern Art has announced An Evening with Kim Gordon in their iconic Courtyard. It will feature live performances by Body/Head, an experimental electric guitar duo composed of Kim Gordon and Bill Nace; poet Elaine Kahn; and guitarist Heather Leigh.

Kim Gordon’s exhibition ‘She bites her tender mind’ runs July 27 – November 10 in IMMA. An Evening with Kim Gordon with performers Body/Head, Heather Leigh and Elaine Kahn in the IMMA Courtyard takes place Saturday July 27. Tickets €25.00 on sale Wednesday 19 June at 9am.
