Negro Impacto get spooky on Lockdown Syndrome (Darkside Remix)

Words: Dylan Murphy

The rising duo have released a nocturnal reimagining of the lead single from their debut EP.

It’s been a big few weeks for Dundalk outfit Negro Impacto. They celebrated the release of their self-titled EP with a sold out show at our New Voices gig in Workman’s Cellars and they’ve kept the momentum going with a fresh reworking of their standout single ‘Lockdown Syndrome’.

Chi Chi and StrangeLove are keen to avoid any neat categorisation and the spectral sound that replaces the original’s vibrant instrumentation puts the cut that contends with lockdown boredom under a whole new lens.

Speaking on the new remix, StrangeLove said, “We’re always reimagining ideas we’ve come up with, whether it’s fully realised songs or just little ideas that Chi Chi or myself would come up with. We never know what we’ll end up with, its different each time but on this occasion we ended up with something that sounded a lot more menacing than the original track so we jokingly called it the darkside remix and eventually decided it would be cool to release it for Halloween.”
