Josie Man is a relative newcomer, but her vibrant approach to bedroom pop coupled with her ability to paint luscious dreamscapes is catching looks.

Hailing from both Orpington and Hong Kong, the 21 year old is a thoroughly modern artist. Identity is key to everything she does, with her music providing a cathartic medium to illustrate to the world who she is. There’s no half measures as she pens her truth in her lyrics and creates exaggerated and beautiful immersive worlds as highlighted in her bubblegum-glazed video for ‘Colours’.

Tipped for big things the South-Londoner is building on her initial momentum, dropping a new EP ‘aLOVINGboothang’ to follow up her recent string of singles.

We caught up with Josie to shoot her some questions and find out what makes her tick.

You are fighting in the octagon, what song do you walk out to ?
I come out to Josie by Steely Dan hahaha.

What fact about you would surprise people?
I’m a really good and nifty driver.

What does retirement look like for you in the future?
I’d love to be living in Bali with my own little family.

What is your morning ritual?
I wake up, stretch, meditate, get in the shower, drink some warm water and get ready! I make sure not to forget to put on all my rings and earrings.

What movie / video game has the best soundtrack?
Hairspray!

What is essential to have with you in the studio?
I always have green tea and honey. And nuts to snack on!

I watched loads of old episodes of Eastenders on YouTube, don’t ask why!

Peggy Gou because I love how she’s built her brand and career.

You are headlining Glastonbury, what are your most outrageous rider requests?
Vegan meatballs and gluten free pasta is about as outrageous as it gets with me! And kombucha, ginger, honey and lemon!
