Tickets for Run the Jewels went on sale this morning at 10am, and many of us in the office frantically were typing in our details to get a ticket. Luckily we managed to nab them, but out of curiosity I went onto Seatwave (a Ticketmaster company) to see if tickets were going on there.
I found them and they’re already going for €89.00-€120.00. That’s double and triple the original price on sale this morning and advertised previously on Ticketmaster of €40.00 .
Only last week there was a lot of controversy over U2 tickets selling out in less than 10 minutes, then going for over €1,000 straight away.
It’s apparent that Seatwave has made it incredibly easy for touts to operate and do it in a ‘legal fashion’.
We need clarity on how this works, is the government going to step in? Is this going to affect gigs themselves? That’s what we need to know.
Hopefully we’ll have more info for you soon.
In the mean time check out our podcast series where we discussed just this yesterday here.
