Folk group The Mary Wallopers will release their long-awaited debut album on October 28, with their vinyl arriving on January 13.
Dundalk folk group The Mary Wallopers have announced the release date for their self-titled debut album. A collection of traditional folk songs from every corner of Ireland reimagined by the band, The Mary Wallopers will be released digitally and on CD on October 28, while the vinyl will be released on January 13.
The band have also released their second single from the album, ‘Cod Liver Oil + The Orange Juice‘. This track is based on the popular 1960s Scottish parody of folk tune ‘Virgin Mary Had A Little Baby‘. ‘Cod Liver Oil + The Orange Juice‘ was originally due to be released on their 2019 EP, but now makes it on to the band’s debut album.
The band released their first single off the album, ‘Frost is All Over’, on August 23.
These two singles are samples of the trademark charm that fans of The Mary Wallopers can expect on their debut album. Other tracks announced on the album include ‘Eileen Óg‘, ‘Building Up’& Tearing England Down‘ and ‘Lots Of Little Soldiers‘.
Growing from a three-piece group ballad travelling the country to a seven-piece live performance, The Mary Wallopers previously announced their first extensive tour of Ireland and Britain.
