Things to eat in and around Dublin from March 14 until March 21

We have collected some of the most delectable foods being sold in Dublin right now and compiled them into an extensive ol’ list. Here are five things in Dublin this week that we like the look of:

05

Jalapino chicken croissant – Fika

We’ve said it before, and we will repeat it. Everything looks fantastic when encased in pastry. The combination of the spicy Mexican peppers with luscious butter pastry beckons like something from a fusion food dream of paradise. Combine that with juicy marinated chicken, and you have a dish that looks criminally appealing. This weekend is a time for this level of decadence.

04

Lemon Brûlée Slice – Brother Hubbard

Who even knows how it’s possible to make a brulée slice? But it is. Here it is in a triangular-shaped glory. Decked out on brown butter poppyseed pastry to prove that it’s not a mirage or a half baked notion. It is a fully baked ready eat treat. The torched brown sugar glaze is the kind of inscrutable that will keep your eyes locked on it. Exactly what you want from a snack this week.

03

Lamb shish Kebab – Overends Kitchen

You can never go wrong with an elevated kebab. This lamb shish looks ludicrously balanced and sumptuous. Overends kitchen has a reputation for producing honest, great-tasting food made with locally sourced ingredients from their thirty-eight-acre farm. This week, it sounds like a refreshing reason to treat yourself to a kebab.

02

Kimchi stew – Jaru Dublin

This one is a make it from home meal, but it looked too good not to include. The Kimchi at Jaru is a hundred per cent handmade – from chopping to packaging. They hand-cut it, salt it, de-salt it, and mix it with their Kimchi blend before letting it fermented for at least two weeks before dispatching it. This fully vegan Kimchi stew is the kind of luscious that we’ve come to expect from the Korean dish that dominates like Manchester United did in the 90s. You can get it at pretty much every SuperValu in Dublin.

01

Sandwich – Juniors Dublin

Could this ham and cheese sandwich be any more attractive? It’s got all the fundamentals to make it a go-out-of-your-way-to-try-it sandwich: high-quality ham, Irish cheese, homemade slaw, fresh beefy tomato and quality toasted bread. Few things appeal to us more than a well-made sandwich. Because when a sandwich is made well, it tastes like a deity sent a bit of joy wrapped in bread to make humanity happy. This sandwich looks like I’ll be telling my friends about how good it was for a week.
