If all you want from your week is pastry-wrapped delicacies, crunchy munchy chickens and cheesy pasta bombs, then this is the week of your dreams.

We’ve compiled all the best-looking dishes of the week into a big ol list, so you don’t have to.

05

The 147 Cajun Chicken Roll – Deli 147

We have already established ourselves as firm 147 deli fans, but how could we not be when they come out with bangers like this every week? Just look at that veritable array of beautiful colours. It’s as inviting as a children’s party invitation. Bursting with fun and ready to be devoured. I bet this is a texture and flavour bomb worth queuing up for.

04

Venison Wellington – Loretta’s

Wrap tender meat in pastry, and it couldn’t look better. Look how golden crunchy, and delicious that outer pastry is. I bet the venison inside it is tender and juicy. That textural combo is what winter was invented to facilitate. Venison itself is a festive-tasting meat imbued with hints of sage and herbs. If you haven’t tried it, it’s well worth a go. The jus on this plate looks set to hit hard with the complex flavours. If your week is about filling up on comfort classics, this is the elevated dish for you.

03

Fresh Fish – Mr Fox

This dainty number comprises crab, eel, oyster and kohlrabi. Kohlrabi is a short, stout, round member of the cabbage family. Somewhere between classic cabbage and broccoli, it lives a mostly obscure life but thrives in the Irish climate. Each perfectly in-season ingredient is heightened and highlighted by the high-end attention from chef Megan Robinson.

As well as looking intensely photogenic, this dish seems like it would be a textural and favour-packed joy to savour. The sour green apple combined with the natural salinity of crab would be enough to lure most in but combine that with the signature sweet-but-peppery flavour of kohlrabi, and you have a hell of a dish on your hands.

02

Taiwanese Style Fried Chicken – Big Fan

Big Fan’s autumnal menu has been peppering our news feed all week. Each dish was as inviting or more than the last it was hard to pick just one to include here, but this crunch muncher took the crown. Different Asian-inspired fried chickens have been gaining mainstream popularity in Dublin recently. And with good reason. They are often much more dynamic than the almost pallid comparative versions we grew up with.

Big Fan, though, is always a level or six above the fray. This dish looks no different. You can almost see the crunch. It’s the almost golden allure of the buttery sweet and spicy honey soy garlic sauce that is the clincher, though. Big Fan has never made a sauce that didn’t blow me away, so I reckon this is another plate licker level. Definitely, a must-try this week.

01

Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe – Grano

Grano always makes their meals as authentic as is humanly possible, so if you’re looking to pretend you’re in Italy this week. It is the spot for you. The pasta is high-key excellent and perfectly poached every time. This cacio e pepe is the cheese overload you need this week. October is all about pasta. Or at least it should be. Pasta is the giver of life in Autumn. A warm bowl of pasta to make you feel like you’re getting a giant hug from the universe. Combine that with cheese, and you have actual perfection. Just look at that picture for thirty seconds, and you will be ready to slurp it.
