May days are here, and so are some deadly gigs. With festival season creeping in, we’re already spoiled for live shows this month. Sure what else would you want to be at after a day of sitting out soaking up the rays? Here is District’s gig guide for May.

Shoegaze meets Nashville southern charm as Soccer Mommy hits Vicar Street for a long awaited stop in Dublin on her EU tour. Fresh from a North American run, she’s riding the momentum of her fourth album ‘Evergreen.’ Expect haze, heartache, and a setlist that hits deep.

The Great Escape returns to Dublin for a two-day festival is taking place over 12 and 13 May in multiple venues across the city: Whelan’s, The Grand Social, and The Workman’s Club. The stacked line up includes Curtisy, Morgana, Jo Hill, Dug and more.

Two gigs over two weeks, platforming the next generation of Irish artists. Branching electronic, soul, RnB, rap and pop, District Magazine are hosting two live shows at The Grand Social with Hennessy. $ONA BLU€, Vaticanjail and Brawni take to the stage on May 15, where as Projective, Keanu the Pilot and Youngiz are performing on May 23. Free drink for early arrivers and some of the most exciting artists in the country, what’s not to love?

After a whirlwind tour of more than 50 dates, Tate McRae brings the ‘Miss Possessive’ energy to Dublin for two nights at the 3Arena. With viral hits like ‘Revolving door’ and ‘Sports car,’ paired with high-octane choreography, these shows are more than pop concerts, they are catharsis on a huge scale.

‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ has never hit harder. Thanks to the film Saltburn, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is enjoying a rightful resurgence. Her Dublin show on May 22 sold out so fast she had to add another. Over two decades into her career and still releasing bangers, Sophie’s disco reign continues.

Looking for some feel-good funk from Tramore? Look no further. Toucan brings his full band and full joy to Workman’s this month. Expect brass, bounce, and a dedicated audience that knows every word.

It’s fashion-forward trad like you’ve never seen it before. Biird comprises of 11 insanely talented musicians and self-proclaimed “lilters and lunatics.” After selling out The Button Factory, they’re levelling up to Vicar Street. The hype is real and warranted.
