BBC Sound of 2021 winner Pa Salieu is back with a sizzling collaboration with Aitch following the release of his Afrikan Rebel EP.
Your last high speed chase on GTA just became sentient and it started making banging rap.
There’s few groups that represent the DIY, self-made ethos of the internet generation than Flatbush Zombies and as the trio work on their respectively solo albums, Erick The Architect is reflecting on his journey.
There’s a really lovely contrast between the sounds of a crowded stadium and the intimate and confessional lyrics in Deyah’s ‘Genesis’. The type of song that equally capable of banging live and soundtracking dark and lonely moments.
Straight off the bat it’s worth pointing out the visuals for Crystal Murray’s ‘Too Much Taste’ is essential viewing. It’s a sensory overload in the best kind of way and the soundtrack for anyone needing a little courage to slide into the DMs this weekend (respectfully).
Landing as an extra track on the bonus version of James Blake’s Friends That Break Your Heart, ‘Funeral’ with slowthai bathes in the melancholy of a failing romance.
The lead single ‘YoYo’ from Ego Ella May’s FIELDNOTES EP is freeform soul food. Like Gaviscon washing over irritated airways or the moment your bare feet touch the grass in the summer, if you need a reset or a palette cleanser look no further.
We were blown away by Bekah CC’s claustrophobic ‘No Change’. While it brought the dark underworld of rural America into full focus, ‘Wall’ leaves more to the imagination with spacey nods to pys-folk and an appetite to avoid easy categorisation.
You ever feel nostalgic for stuff you never experienced? PinkPatheress has a tight grip on TikTok’s unpredictable algorithm with her blend of future pop, garage and jungle and ‘Reason’ has us pining for October 22 so the clubs can get the tears they deserve.
Aby Coulibaly was a bright spark in a dreary 18 months and her new nocturnal bubbler ‘Chamomile Tea’ captures the drowsy desperation of trying to get a good night’s kip.
Speaking on the track Aby says, “Chamomile Tea is about not being able to sleep at night and funnily enough I still don’t sleep that much since I wrote it a year ago. I’m more of a night owl. I love chamomile tea especially before bed as well as drinking dark hot chocolate which is where the hook came from. This one is a bit different from my other releases but I’m excited to finally get it out there and let people vibe with it.”
We do vibe with it.
