BBC Reporter Criticised For Uncomfortable Andrew Scott Interview

Text: Izzy Copestake

The BBC’s attempt to get a viral clip has backfired in a big way.

Many journalists would kill for the opportunity to interview Andrew Scott. From his villainous role in Sherlock, to the beloved ‘hot priest’ in Fleabag, and most recently a triumphantly devastating performance as a grieving writer in All Of Us Strangers – a thousand burning questions spring to mind at the thought of interviewing the talented actor. One which doesn’t, however, is a question about Barry Keoghan’s penis.

Before yesterday’s Baftas, Scott gave interviews to journalists on the red carpet, including the BBC’s arts and entertainment correspondent Collin Patterson. In their brief interaction, Patterson asked if Scott knew the Saltburn actor, Barry Keoghan, before pushing the award winning actor to answer what his first reaction was to *that* infamous Saltburn scene – in which Keoghan dances through the house naked to ‘Murder on the Dancefloor‘. Visibly uncomfortable from the inappropriate line of questioning, Scott can be seen stuttering and shaking his head for a few moments before, stating that he doesn’t want to spoil the film for anyone.

Undeterred, the BBC reporter continued. “There was a lot of talk about prosthetics. How well do you know him?” At this, Scott shook his head and walked away from the conversation.

The reporter has been criticised heavily across social media, with many pointing out the disrespectful and inappropriate nature of his questions.
