Bong Joon-Ho has finished the script for his follow up to Parasite

Words: Dylan Murphy

Bong Joon-Ho is a busy man.

Somehow, it is just over a year since Bong Joon-Ho’s Parasite was released in cinemas. While time is beginning to lose a lot of meaning for many of us in the weird vacuum we find ourselves in, Bong Joon-Ho has made the most of his free minutes.

This week, he called into the Director’s Cut Podcast to speak to Rian Johnston. Following a broader conversation he honed in his upcoming work. Bong revealed that he was working on two upcoming movies, one of which would be in Korean and the other in English. Speaking on them he said, “It feels like I’m splitting my brain in half left and right writing these two scripts. But I finished one last week.”

Moreover, the Oscar-winning director said, “the Korean film is located in Seoul and has unique elements of horror and action”. Continuing he noted, “It’s difficult to define the genre of my films. The English project is a drama film based on a true event that happened in 2016. Of course, I won’t know until I finish the script, but it has to be set half in the UK and half in the US”.

The news arrives after it was revealed that Bong was working on a Parasite HBO series.
