The video comes alongside news they’ve signed to FAMM – the home of Jorja Smith, ENNY and Maverick Sabre.
Since their inception, Ballymun outfit Bricknasty have been on the cutting edge of music coming out of Ireland. Cuts like ‘Father’ caught our eye before loosies like ‘So Sick’ put their creative powers of reinvention into full focus. Now, the group are entering a new era fresh off the back off signing to revered record label FAMM. The crew are celebrating the move with the release of the single ‘Fashion’ which features fellow messer KhakiKid and lands alongside a tongue-in-cheek video.
‘Fashion’ showcases their disdain for anything that distracts from the music, with the video ironically placing them in the midst of a photoshoot among other stereotypical rap cliches.
It’s the second single that KhakiKid and Bricknasty have collaborated on, following on from 2021’s ‘Breakfast on Pluto’.
Bricknasty came to be after vocalist and guitarist Fatboy joined forces with producer Cillian McCauley through Soundcloud before the group eventually expanded to include Dara Abdurahman(bass), Korey Thomas (drums) and Louis Younge (sax/keys). Raised on soul, hip hop, jazz and just about anything that makes you feel something, the group’s influence range from D’Angelo to MF DOOM.
‘Fashion’ lands ahead of a rumoured project. In the mean time, watch the new video:
