cbakl is celebrating the scene’s success in ‘Cut off your nose to Spite your face’

Words: Dylan Murphy

“There are so many great artists emerging in Northern Ireland & Ireland right now, it really feels like we’re on the brink of something huge. You have that feeling of not wanting to be left behind so I try to make sure I’m matching that quality with my own singles.”

Portrush producer cbakl has returned with one final single before the year is out. Cut off your nose to Spite your face‘ continues in the same vein as previous works, indulging in an early Kanye-esque chipmunk soul.

It comes after cbakl performed on the BBC alongside Declan O’Rourke, produced two tracks that featured on new Irish drama ‘Kin‘ and continued working behind the scenes with a host of local acts.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the new single, cbakl says, “There are so many great artists emerging in Northern Ireland & Ireland right now, it really feels like we’re on the brink of something huge.

You have that feeling of not wanting to be left behind so I try to make sure I’m matching that quality with my own singles.”
