District Recordings hip hop label launches on RTÉ 2FM Cypher with Mo-K

District Recordings has arrived.

In our over three years as an online and physical publication, plus our event and gig curations, the District Magazine team have become adoringly acquainted with hip hop in Ireland. The eclectic voices in the genre, the diverse styles and the artists that have what it takes to become internationally recognised.

In light of this, we’ve decided to launch a new label, focusing on hip hop. The idea first sprouted when we launched the inaugural project in our mixtape series. Chease’s 14-track tape was strange and envelope pushing, everything we like about modern hip hop.

We’ve since released projects by Kobina, Jake Hurley (Featuring Jafaris, Damola and more) and Plant Food, and now it’s all under the bracket of ‘District Recordings’.

To launch the label we’ve teamed up with Mo-K and 2FM to produce a very special two-part series of his cypher series.

Belfast-based Londoner Leo Miyagee, who’ll be releasing an EP with us in a few weeks, plus Mythill Grim, who’ll be sharing a collection of videos on the imprint too, step up to the plate first.

The second cypher will drop in a few weeks too with one of our favourite Irish-based rap collectives.
