Doja Cat cancels her 2022 festival run due to illness

Words: Eva O’Beirne

Anyone hoping to see Doja Cat at Longitude will be certainly be disappointed.

“I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music,” the rapper said on Friday.

Doja Cat revealed over the weekend that she will not be touring this summer due to illness.

“Hi guys, I wanted you to hear it from me first,” she wrote on Friday. “Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils ASAP. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take a while due to swelling.”

“That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour. I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.”

The news, unfortunately, did not come as a surprise as the Kiss Me More singer has been tweeting about her throat abscess for the past week. In typical Doja manner, her Twitter display name is now “throatussy era”.

Doja Cat has also cancelled her appearance on The Weeknd’s upcoming tour.
