The pair from D24 have joined forces for a cut that promises commercial viability without compromising on grit.
It’s no secret that drill music in Ireland has been having a moment. Couple that with a growing interest in hip hop in general on the island and it’s resulting in a wave of acts from all over the country releasing music that walks the line of having mainstream appeal whilst staying true to their experience.
Smilez has linked up with newcomer Youngiz for a thumping new cut ‘Outside’, which arrives as there are tentative moves to graduate from the cold winter indoors to the warmer summer months. Featuring production from 18 year old Toronto-based beat maker RicoRunDat, who has been credited on Meek Mills, Feety Wap, CentralCee among others, it promises to soundtrack more optimistic months ahead.
Speaking on the new track Smilez said “Since Corona, I’ve been out way more, I’ve been more active, I’ve just been hands-on with the music, I’ve been Outside. The song is a reflection of that”.
Youngiz continued saying, “when we planned the video for this everyone was supportive of us. The whole community contributed to it, it was like brotherhood and brotherly love, we moved as a unit”.
“Since we started sharing the snippets a certain group has been feeling a certain type of way and targeting us because they think when we say ‘Outside’ we are looking for beef but we are letting people know now we are ‘Outside’ working hard, focusing on our music, our visuals, looking good and all the boys looking fresh and keeping their energy good”.
