We’ve been here before. But let’s hope it’s for real this time.
It’s been a busy year for the vanishing act known as Frank Ocean. From being confirmed to play Coachella 2023, releasing a new collection from his accessories brand Homer (including a $25k cock-ring) and even being tapped to direct a movie produced by A24.
Fans will notice that Ocean has done everything except announce new music. It’s been 2,228 days since Ocean released his last full body of work Blonde and 916 days since his last solo singles ‘Dear April’ and ‘Cayendo were released. The wait has has us so feral we’re counting the days.
However! While yesterday saw Rihanna’s re-emergence as she announced her musical comeback at next year’s SuperBowl Halftime Show, Frank Ocean’s social media presence disappeared altogether. Like he never existed, Ocean’s account has been completely wiped.
The blackout could potentially signify that Frank Ocean is about to return with new music – or a new project of some kind. Ocean’s social media and public relations strategies are infamously opaque and cryptic. While it may be related to his other projects, we can at least hope that Ocean going incognito is a *hint-hint nudge-nudge* that new music is on its way.
Though if it is another cock-ring drop at least it’s something to laugh about.
