Gaptoof releases captivating new project ‘Looks Like Rain’

Oh yes.

Soft Boy Record‘s resident beatsmith Gaptoof has finally dropped his long-awaited project ‘Looks Like Rain’. The record overall wouldn’t feel out of place on a shelf in Stones Throw Records and cements his position as one of the country’s smoothest producers.

Ahead of the full release he shared ‘Dreamcatcher,’ featuring Kojaque and ‘Dean Street‘ with fellow Soft Boy Kean Kavanagh. He’s continued this collaborative formula with the final product and it’s paid dividends.

Often recruiting a number of features for a project can muddy the vision and the overall sonic cohesiveness, but the project flows smooth as butter and the guests amplify the project’s qualities, rather than hindering them.

There’s a very deliberate pacing to the project, with the measured tones of ‘Caps Lock,’ ensuring you don’t blow your load too early after the blistering start from tracks like ‘Dreamcatcher’ and ‘Feels Like Rain’.

Undoubtedly a landmark release for the instrumental wizard, alongside Hazey Haze he’s set the benchmark in 2020.
