Grammy Winning Snarky Puppy Pianist Bill Laurance Is Coming to Ireland This October

One of the founding members of Snarky Puppy is bringing his acclaimed solo piano album Lumen to six venues across Ireland, as part of a nationwide Music Network tour.

Jazz collective Snarky Puppy have won 5 Grammys. They’ve collaborated with the likes of David Crosby, Jacob Collier and Lalah Hathaway. And now, their pianist Bill Laurance is stripping it back for a six date solo Irish tour this October, presented by Music Network.

Taking place around Ireland from October 18-25, the tour will see him perform music from his latest album, Lumen, alongside selections from his extensive solo discography. His sound moves between jazz, classical, funk. But on this tour, Bill Laurence will be bringing it back to where it all started for him: just himself and a piano.

Released in 2025, Lumen is considered his most personal work to date. The album combines jazz improvisation with some classical influences. It’s intimate, atmospheric and entirely his own.

“Performing solo is total freedom. It’s about letting the music tell you what to play, fully immersing yourself in the vulnerability of what the moment decides,” Laurance says.

“Alongside repertoire from my latest solo piano album Lumen, the concert will feature wide open improvisations, in which every performance is completely different.”

How did Bill Laurance’s musical journey with Snarky Puppy begin? It all started in Leeds. He had a chance encounter with bassist Michael League which led to him joining Snarky Puppy. Since then, the group has gone on to become one of contemporary jazz’s biggest names on the globe.

But beyond Snarky Puppy, Bill Laurance is doing his own thing. He has been developing his own sound and releasing albums for the last decade, balancing expansive works and stripped back piano pieces. This Irish tour offers audiences the chance to experience that side of his music up close and personal.
