Here’s a preview of Studio Ghibli’s theme park

New images have surfaced of the new theme park in Japan.

It was revealed last year, that Studio Ghibli would be launching their very own theme park. Currently being built in Expo memorial Park in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, it’ll feature elements from My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle among others.

Set to be open in Autumn 2022, images of the forthcoming park surfaced online over the weekend giving an insight into what is in store.

The first revelations are a 16-metre high replica of the magic, walking castle from Hayao Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle. The images show a huge pale building that will be present in one of the theme park’s five zones.

Elsewhere, the other images shared also depict “Mononoke no Sato” forest from Irontown in Princess Mononoke. While there is yet to be any live footage released from the park, we’ll be eagerly waiting for more news from the iconic studio.

The images come after the mixed reaction to the new trailer for Studio Ghibli’s Earwig and the Witch. Fans are split over the film studio swapping their trademark style for CGI.
