According to the Irish Times, The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) have advised the cabinet that all businesses should return to working remotely from home unless it is absolutely essentially for employees to physically be in their workplace.
Other measures advised include sports matches going back to being played behind closed doors and further recommendations against gatherings, including those before and after games taking place. If approved later today the measures would stay in place until September 13.
It is reported that in the face of growing concerns at the behaviour of young people that the Cabinet also discussed increasing the power of the gardaí to halt social gatherings at house parties, pubs and restaurants. The increase in powers would enable the gardaí to implement the coronavirus lockdown and come alongside new advice for over 70s recommending them to limit the amount of time they spend outdoors and in the company of others.
Reports also suggest that gatherings within one house are to be restricted to groups of six with people from no more than three households together.
