Khakikid shares ‘Woodstock’ ahead of Elevator EP

Words: Dylan Murphy

The Crumlin rapper shares a hazy new track produced by Bricknasty.

Ahead of festival season, Khakikid is getting into gear with a new single. ‘Woodstock’ lands ahead of his new Elevator EP and features the kind of production that would fit neatly into a Thundercat project.

Rapping about the kind of night that goes zero to one hundred real quick, the Crumlin based artist is paying homage to the unexpected all nighters that have you walking home as the sun rises.

“I wrote Woodstock reminiscing of those nights where you hadn’t any plans but by the end of it you’re missing 50 percent of the clothes you left the house with. Even with the memories of your mams mortified face in the morning, you can’t help but look back on those nights with a tinge of nostalgia. I wanted the song to feel like you’re walking home at sunrise, hearing birds chirping and are desperately trying to avoid shameful eye contact with early morning joggers”, he says.

Woodstock’ comes after the release of ‘Cozy’ and ‘Shlumped Up’. We included Khakikid in our Future of Irish Music: 2022 feature alongside a host of other acts we’re confident will make huge strides in the next 12 months. Khakikid plays Forbidden Fruit, Longitude & Otherside Festival this summer.
