Kneecap will join Mango X Mathman, Aby Coulibaly and Monjola in the RDS with MC Gemma Bradley.
Red Bull’s roof raising competition, Red Bull SoundClash is coming to the RDS on October 21 with a host of Irish talent going head to head.
Hip hop duo Mango X Mathman will head up the first crew, facing off against rising Irish artists Aby Coulibaly and Monjola. The crew leaders will also invite some of the most exciting talent in Ireland to join them on stage, with the crew line-ups revealed on the night.
The crews will also be joined by iconic hip hop trio Kneecap. Merging the Irish language with English, satire with socially conscious lyrics, trad with techno, Kneecap’s unrivaled notoriety will add to what is already set to be an explosive night of music.
Host of BBC Music Introducing and R&B artist Gemma Bradley will also MC the night, getting the crowds hyped up for Red Bull’s first Irish SoundClash.
Red Bull SoundClash was inspired by the culture of competing sound systems originating in Kingston, Jamaica, during the 1950s and subsequently spreading around the world. Over the years, Red Bull SoundClash has evolved to add wider scope to the traditional dancehall and reggae-focused musical battle.
Set over six rounds, both crews will perform on stages either side of Shelbourne Hall, pitting their musical talent against each other. The audience decides who wins as a decibel metre will monitor the crowd’s reaction after each performance. Whoever receives the biggest crowd response will be crowned Red Bull’s crew champion
For the first ever SoundClash in Ireland, Mango x Mathman will perform against Aby Coulibaly and Monjola. Mango X Mathman have firmly cemented themselves as leaders in Ireland’s burgeoning hip-hop scene. Aby and Monjola have also both released a host of alt R&B tracks that have quickly placed them in the ‘must see’ category.
