Limited Edition Sasstenance Issue One is Out Now

Sasstenance is a nutrition and healthy-ish lifestyle zine series, and mostly a bit of craic.

The project is a collaboration between three Irish friends across different cities. Caoimhe O’Byrne is an Art Director in Los Angeles. Niamh Langton is an Illustrator based in Dublin. Lastly, Grace Steite Masri is a Creative Producer and Nutrition Coach based in Lisbon.

The publication straddles the fine line a healthy publication must with peerless design and novel approaches to well-covered topics. It manages to be health-oriented without straying into toxic optimisation culture without veering into “ThatGirl” territory. The limited edition print is well worth a read and sets a high standard for forthcoming work.

C, N & G started the project during the pandemic as a way to channel their creativity and love for food into a piece that would be fun to read, pretty to look at and informative. As they write, “Everything is optional; take what you like, leave the rest. Hang out with us for a while. We promise we’ll show you a good time.”

Each issue revolves around a specific time of day and mealtime. In this first issue, Rise, they cover morning routine hacks, breakfast tips, hangover cures and some recipes to help get the day off to a good start. It includes a poem by guest contributor Samuel Arnold Keane. Each issue will include contributions by other Irish artists, writers and food and drink lovers.

In the following issues, expect to read more about daily routine bits, with musings on lunch, snacks and dinner ~NoonGrazeDine

Sasstenance, Issue 1: Rise, was printed in Dublin at Plus Print as a limited edition of a hundred and launched on October 3.

It’s available online at sasstenance.com and in-store at The Library Project. Get in touch with the girls via @sasstenance_zine on Instagram.
