A century after her birth, Marilyn Monroe remains one of the most enduring and influential cultural icons in history, and now her life is being celebrated in spectacular fashion. The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will celebrate the centenary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, under the baton of Stephen Bell, joined by singer Katie Birtill.
Marilyn Monroe’s career was defined by her roles in films like Some Like it Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and There’s No Business Like Show Business, and this June 4, The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will celebrate her birthday by reliving some of her pivotal on-screen moments.
Katie Birtill will sing pieces from Ladies of The Chorus, Niagara, How to Marry a Millionaire, River Of No Return, Seven Year Itch, and Bus Stop, joining the orchestra for hits like ‘Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend’ and ‘I Wanna Be Loved By You’ to honour what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday on June 1.
