Maverick Sabre, Pillow Queens & more to play intimate Other Voices show at Guinness Storehouse

Words: Dylan Murphy

As it stands, the event will go ahead with a live audience and will also be broadcast online through their social channels.

Coming hot on the heels of their Dingle edition, Other Voices are teaming up with the Guinness Storehouse for a series of live performances on December 15. Following on from their first collaboration concert in 2020, it will be the only Other Vices event in the capital this year.

This exclusive live event will showcase the cultural richness of Ireland and, crucially, provide a global platform for performers whose livelihoods have been severely impacted in recent times. The event will also stream live on the night at Othervoices.ie, bringing the soundtrack of home to those who remain abroad this Christmas season.

Other Voices: Home at the Guinness Storehouse will feature BellX1Maverick SabrePillow QueensJohn Francis FlynnRyan McMullen and the Theodora Byrne Ensemble. The event will mark Maverick Sabre’s first Irish gig since before the pandemic and John Francis Flynn will be performing fresh off his recent wins as best Folk Singer and Best Emerging Artist at the 2021 RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.

The evening event will be hosted by Loah, the singer songwriter and actor of Sierra Leonean / Irish origin, who will also perform on the night in a special collaboration.

Speaking on the forthcoming event, Loah said, “It’s a wonderful gift to be back in the Guinness Storehouse for another celebration of everything Other Voices Home means. While we are perhaps not where we hoped we would be in the world at this time, there is still much cause for celebration of everything we’ve been through, our nearest and dearest, and great music. I am honoured to host this year’s show.“

Other Voices: Home at the Guinness Storehouse takes place on Wednesday 15 December at 20.00.  Due to reduced capacity, a very limited amount of tickets go on sale via Guinness-storehouse.com on Wednesday 8 December at 12.00. Tickets are 20 euro and the price includes a pint of Guinness, alternate Guinness beer or a soft drink.

The live event can also be viewed virtually at 20.00 on December 15 via Othervoices.ie and the Other Voices social channels.
